Hillside Cottage Cards

Hillside Cottage Cards

These are the cards we made in my Hillside Cottage Card Workshop. I used the both the Hillside Cottage Paper Packet and the May-June Mix-In Paper Packet. I also used the So Tweet Stamp Set with older stamp sets for the sentiment on the insides.

Happy Bird-day Card #1

I think these chicks are so cute. The idea for this card came from Make it From Your Heart Vol 2, pattern 20 on page 42. To color in the stamped images, I used the TriBlend Markers. The chick on the front is raised with Thin 3D Foam Tape. The chick on the inside was stamped cut out and attached to the inside as the markers bleed thru.  The flower was made in the same way as the ones in my Hillside Cottage Scrapbook Layouts, please see that post for instructions.

You're So Tweet Card

This card is a double flap card that can be done vertically like I did or horizontally. You will need the following:White Daisy CS for your base cut 8 1/2" x 4 1/4" and scored at 5 1/2", a 4" x 3 1/4" for inside and a 1/2" x 2 3/8"  for saying. Blue Belle Quilt pattern 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". Charcoal CS 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4", and 3/4" x 2 5/8" for the saying mat. Canary Floral 4 1/4" x 3". Toffee Floral 3' x 4 1/4".

Attach the Toffee Floral to the front flap then attach the Blue Belle Quilt to the front base of card. Attach Charcoal CS with it opening downward to the center of the Blue Belle Quilt. Next attach the 4 x 3 1/4" White Daisy to the top portion of the Charcoal CS. Close the flap and attach the Canary Floral to the front centered side to side. I stamped "You're So Tweet" on the white daisy 1/2" x 2 3/8" and layer it of the Charcoal saying mat. Added a flying chick and butterfly to the front then stamped one on the inside with 3 butterflies.

 One Cool Chick Card

These chicks are so versatile and the ideas are endless. Here I made an all occasion card. I got the idea for this card from our how to book, Make it From Your Heart Vol 2. I a flag using the technique from the scrapbooking layouts, for instructions, see the Hillside Cottage Scrapbook post. I raised up the Saying with Thin 3D Foam Tape and used black hemp to tie around the card. On the inside, I attached a stamped, cut and colored chick but no saying so I can either write a hand written note or choose a saying later.

Happy Bird-day Card #2

For this card I stamped 2 of the chicks with the balloons, and 1 flying chick, also the Happy bird-day saying and a flower. I raised the flying chick up with the Thin 3D Foam Tape. Again I used the foil and distressed Oxide technique from the Hillside Cottage Scrapbook Workshop I taught. On this card I edge distressed the Canary Floral paper and layered everything on a piece of Blue Belle CS that I attached to the card base. I love stamping the images on the front of the envelopes as well. I think this help bright the day of all those who see it at the post office. Just remember to do this in a place that doesn't interfere with the address and return address.

Happy Bird-day Card #3

The idea for this card came for Make It From Your Heart Vol 2 pattern 27 on page 46. I stamped two extra balloons and cut the out. I cut a piece of 5 1/2" x 3 1/4" White Daisy CS that I stamped everything on adding some grass with the Dull Green TriBlend Marker before attaching it to center of card. The middle balloon is raised up with 3D tape. I cut 2-  5 1/2" x  1/2" of Toffee CS which I attach to the two 5 1/2" pieces of Zip Strip, then attached to right and left side of the White Daisy CS. As usual I stamped, colored and cut another chick for the inside. Lastly I used the Onyx Liquid Pearls to place a dot in the center of the flowers and on the chicks eyes.

I hope you enjoyed all these creations. If you have any questions please let me know. Barbi

Hillside Cottage Scrapbook Layouts

Hillside Cottage Gather Layout

For this layout I did a technique to make my own background texture paper using foil and Distressed Oxide Ink in Tattered Rose, see the 11 1/2 x 1 1/2 piece and  6 x 2 piece on the first page; also the     3 1/2 x 6 on the second page. To do this you take a piece of foil and gently crumble it then open back up. Then spread it flat and dab the Tattered Rose Distressed Oxide Ink over the foil. Next I sprayed in gently with water, now lay your cardstock piece on top and gently press down. If you do not get it all covered the way you want, you can reposition the paper and press it down again.

Repeat as needed until you have the look your desire and repeat with each piece. Lastly using the Mini Ink Blending Tool I distressed the edges of those papers.

Supplies used for this two page layout were Hillside Cottage Paper Packet + Sticker Sheet,  Hillside Cottage Coordinating Cardstock, Hillside Cottage Scrapbooking Stamp + Thin Cuts. This stamp set is also available without Thin Cuts. The inks I used were: Mink, Sage, Flamingo, Blue Belle, Canary, and Black.

Hillside Cottage Hiking Layout

For this layout I continued with the Hillside Cottage Papers and also the May-June Mix-In Paper Packet, and May-June Mix-In Coordinating Cardstock. I made some flowers using a 1" circle punch. For this you will need 6 circles, one for the bases and 5 for the petals. I used the Black with white polka dots from the May-June Mix-In Paper Packet. Cover most of the base circle with Liquid Glass as this allows for repositioning as needed. Then place the other 5 circles on it in a circle each one meeting in the center of the base. When you have them all on reposition as needed. let this dry a bit, the embellish the center as desired.

I used a piece of first aid gauze and one of the Black dots from our Black & White Adhesive backed Dots. I then hand cut a few leaves from the scraps of Hillside Cottage Sage Woodgrain Paper.

I also used sand paper the remove some of the gloss on a couple photos so I could then use stamps and StazOn Ink to stamp a saying. See the top left photo in first page and top right photo in the second page. I also used the sandpaper to distressed the edges of my photos. I have always loved this technique especially on nature layouts.

Hope you enjoy these layouts. If you have any questions please let me know.
